Seven classic tales, drawn from the original Arabic, each sumptuously illustrated by Milo Winter. This is one of the lovely Windermere series of essential literary works designed for young readers, each illustrated by a noted artist. Each has colored cloth-covered boards (this one is in deep blue with bright gilt lettering to front & spine) with a decorative full-color paper pastedown on the front cover. There is also a full-color frontispiece & 7 full-color internal plates on glossy paper by Winter; all are present & colorful, but borders show light tanning, some foxing. Orig. published in this edition in 1914, this is the 1929 edition, identical in all aspects. Hardcover book is in VG+ condition: exceptionally bright & clean, binding is strong & square, hinges secure. A bit of rubbing to extremities, very mild fraying to head of spine. Pages are creamy white with moderate tanning, heavier around edges, commensurate with age. Former owner's name & date to back of frontis, else unmarked. Only other flaw is that the frontispiece has come completely loose from binding (see photo 3), but with no damage to edges.
