Collection of 42 fairy tales both familiar & lesser-known by Andersen are brought to life with brand new illustrations drawn by 25 children representing 18 nations, especially for this book. No publication date, but gift inscription on ffep is dated 1943. A Book of the Month Club (BOMC) edition, in 355 pages ,with full-color, full-page illustrations throughout. Hardcover book has off-white cloth-covered boards with colorful design stamped to front board & spine. Condition is VG-, marred by light surface soiling to exterior & foxing/tanning to endpapers. Interior pages are very clean with just a hint of tanning to edges, binding straight & strong. The unclipped DJ is barely Good, with a small hole to center spine, chipping at corners, light soil to white areas, & rubbing to extremities; looks nice protected in new clear mylar cover!
