In 268 pages, with a few pen-and-ink illustrations from the original throughout (artist unattributed), though they look amazingly like Tenniel). This edition retains Matthew Arnold's poem, "The Forsaken Merman" at the end, which was removed from later editions. With deep blue cloth-covered boards & black lettering to front & spine, this hardcover is in VG condition: completely clean, binding strong & straight. Gift inscription in small neat pen on ffep. Heavy page tanning, commensurate with age & paper quality of the period. The price-clipped DJ is downgraded to Good+ due to slight chipping to both ends of spine & lesser edgewear all around.
