A classic of Chinese cuisine since it was first published in 1956, this book offers over 300 easy-to-follow recipes. A vintage Second Edition from 1959. It is SIGNED by the AUTHOR with a personalized & dated inscription on the ffep, accompanied by a Chinese proverb. Hardcover book has brilliant Chinese red cloth-covered boards with a black& gilt decoration & lettering to front & spine. Condition is solidly VG: very clean, binding straight & strong, pages moderately tanned. Chinese writing in the front matter have been translated into English into neat pen, in what looks to be the author's handwriting! Some other recipes written in blank pages in rear of book & some small pen notations by some recipes & in margins in book. Some newspaper clippings about the author & handwritten recipe laid inside front cover, has left tanning marks. The unclipped DJ is downgraded to only Fair due to many missing chips along the spine, soiling to rear cover, lesser chipping at corners & edgewear all around.
