Classic turn-of-the-century illustrations (late 1800s, early 1900s) grace this collection of 18 tales from Andersen, with a full-color frontispiece & 3 full-color internal plates, along with full- and half-page pen-and-ink illustrations (artist unidentified) throughout the 126 pages of text. No title page or table of contents, but no signs of their having been removed either. Former owner's name in pen on front endpaper. No publication date, but research places it c. 1900. Hardcover book has a stitched binding, green cloth-wrapped spine with colorful paper over boards to front cover. Condition is downgraded to only Fair due to heavy edgewear, binding cloth has split, corners worn down to underlying boards. Pages are fairly heavily tanned & becoming brittle.
