A humorous romp through the alphabet, with all sorts of savory & unsavory persons from the brilliant mind & pen of Edward Gorey representing each letter. Unpaginated. Orig. published in the US in 1960 in a softcover edition with the title,"The Fatal Lozenge'' (see our listing #017924 for that title), this is the First British Edition, first printing, from 1961 with the new title & different cover illustrations than those that appeared on the American version. Small (5.75" x 4.5") hardcover has bright pink boards decorated with one of Gorey's wonderfully macabre scenes, including the standard dead body & skeleton & haunted lady/curious child. Condition is VG+: extremely clean & bright, binding strong & straight, pages white & unmarked. No DJ as issued. Besides the sunned spine, the corners are slightly bumped. Our photos depict the EXACT book you will receive from us--never "stock" images of books we don't actually have!
