A FIRST EDITION, but later state (all first edition points present EXCEPT the requisite period on pg. 112) from March 1942 of this hardcover in medium blue cloth-covered boards with embossed from title/author box to front cover & silver lettering to spine. Condition is Near Fine: exceptionally clean & bright, binding straight & strong, pages modestly tanned, commensurate with age & wartime paper quality, but completely unmarked. The price-clipped DJ is downgraded to VG due to slight chipping at both ends of spine & even slighter rubbing at all corners, along with a 1" vertical tear descending from top edge of front cover near spine.
