New edition of what is widely considered the "first & finest" sequel to the original "Wizard of Oz" book. Orig. published in 1904, this is the First Printing of one of a new series issued in the late 20th century in conjunction with Books of Wonder in New York City (whose co-founder wrote the Afterword). It retains the original endpapers, 120 line illustrations & 16 full-color plates by artist John R. Neill throughout the 287 pages. With a sturdy, but unattractive, orange reinforced library binding, this is an EX-LIB copy, with the usual stamps & markings & card pocket in front matter & stamps to outside page edges. Nonetheless, it is in VG condition: very clean, pages slightly off-white, colors bright, with a few random page wrinkles & mild creases. NO other writing/underlining/highlighting/coloring. Binding secure, hinges intact. Modest rubbing to extremities. The old library mylar has been carefully removed & replaced with new, & the DJ is VG+: extremely bright & clean with virtually NO edgewear, but downgraded due to tearing/rubbing to spine from removal of old call letters.
