A true FIRST EDITION, First Printing, from 1939, unfortunately with no DJ (see our listing # 019460 for a slightly later printing with original DJ). Lists to self in front matter (along with ND #16), glossy Frontis, 218 pages; lists to DJ #5, HBG #6, & BG#9 in rear. Condition is VG: very clean, with modest edgewear/bumping/rubbing to extremities, slight fraying to cloth at both ends of spine. Front hinge is cracked, text block intact. Pages lightly tanned, commensurate with age. Former owner's name in light pencil on half title page, which we have left in tribute to that long-ago reader.
