Collection of 6 stories drawn from the author's experiences of the pseudonymous Hecate County, the "bewitched center of the American Dream, a sleepy bedroom community where drinks flow endlessly and sexual fantasies fill the air," Some of the stories originally appeared in various magazines; this is the FIRST EDITION, first printing in book form from 1946. Upon publication, the book was banned until 1959, when it was reissued with revisions by the author: this is the scarce original banned First Edition, NOT the revision! Hardcover book has green cloth-covered boards with heavily worn gilt lettering to spine. Condition is VG- (minus): generally very clean, binding tight & square, hinges secure, pages modestly tanned. NO writing/underlining/highlighting; not ex-lib. Flaws are all surface, including rubbing to extremities, fraying to cloth at both ends of spine & all corners. No DJ. Please see our photos--they show the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have on hand! All orders processed before 2 pm weekdays (Pacific time) ship that same day; weekends & holidays ship very next business day!
