Gray was the leading American botanist of that time, & the prime supporter of Darwin's theories. These writings were published anonymously in various venues & collected in book form in 1867. This new edition is part of the John Harvard Library, a First Edition, First Printing, from 1963 (First, thus). With green cloth-covered boards lettered in gilt to front & spine, the book is Fine, stored since received Brand New as a review copy (notice laid in). Completely clean & flawless save for a very faint spot to fore edge. NO writing or highlighting or underlining; not ex-lib. Binding firm & square, hinges secure. Pages slightly off-white, NO foxing. The unclipped DJ is Good+, marred by a large chip to top edge & smaller chips/light creases to bottom edge; nicely preserved in new mylar cover free!
