True First Edition, First Printing of book #27 in the YA mystery series featuring Judy Bolton. Published in 1956, it is in the new green picture cover format with "haunted house" endpapers & plain frontispiece by Pelagie Doane (unattributed). We are also offering another copy in this format, but a later printing, in worse condition (please see our listing #21934). Still the original text, in 180 pages, listing to previous book (JB#26) in front matter & JB#25 on back cover. Condition is only Fair, downgraded due to heavy rubbing to extremities, to underlying boards at all corners, both ends of spine, & bottom edges. Binding secure, but both front & rear hinges have split. Former owner's scribbling to front endpapers, else unmarked. Small dark spotting to fore edge side of some pages in rear & both rear endpapers. No DJ, as issued (picture cover editions never had them). Still, it's a First!
