Another in the author's beloved collection of stories for horse lovers of all ages about the wild ponies that roam the Eastern Shore of Virginia. In 219 + 5 additional unnumbered pages, with lovely watercolor endpapers, 2 internal full-color plates, & numerous pen-and-ink illustrations throughout text by artist Wesley Dennis. Orig. published in 1950, this is the Third ("C") printing of that First Edition. Hardcover book has brown cloth over boards decorated & lettered in gilt to front & spine. As it is an Ex-Lib copy, with the usual stamps & markings in front matter & to outside page edges, condition is downgraded to only Fair-good: fairly heavy rubbing to lower extremities, with cloth worn all the way down to boards at corners. After the first few pages, interior is generally quite clean, all illustrations clear & bright. Binding strong & straight. This copy has a lovely VG DJ, which had been protected under library mylar so is pretty flawless save for old library stickers to spine & very slight edgewear; nicely protected in new mylar cover Free!(Please see our listing #020317 for a nicer copy, but without the DJ). Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive from us, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! All orders processed before 2 pm weekdays (Pacific time) ship same day; later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
