SIGNED First Edition from 1968 documenting 283 diverse & unique pieces of art--masks, bronzes, wood carvings, decorative pieces, clothing & adornments--created by a wide variety of indigenous tribal peoples across Africa, collected by Katherine White Reswick since the late 1940s & now housed at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Unpaginated. Compiled by William Fagg, Deputy Keeper in charge of the African collections in the Dept of Ethnography at the British Museum in London. Along with a Preface, there is a personalized inscription & signature of Ms. Reswick dated Mar. 1972 on full title page. With brown textured cloth over boards & black lettering to spine, this square quarto (9" x 9.5") is in Near Fine condition: completely clean, binding straight & strong, pages creamy white with modest tanning to edges, heavier to endpapers. Slight fading to extremities & mild corner bumping. The unclipped DJ is only Good: colorful & bright with very little edgewear, but downgraded due to slight chipping at head of spine & a large triangular tear, showing wrinkling & residue of old tape repair, to back cover; nicely protected now in new mylar cover. Our photos depict the exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same Day Shipping on orders received Weekdays before 2 pm (Pacific time); later orders, weekends, & holidays ship very next business day. SORRY: book is too large for expedited domestic or any international shipping without approval of additional postage (at least double per USPS).
