Lelooska (meaning 'He who cuts against wood with a knife"), was adopted by the Nez Pierce & lived as a member of the Cherokee tribe living in Ariel, WA, when this book was published. He died in 1996. He dedicated his life to preserving the heritage of his people along with that of the other seven major Northwest Coast Native American Indian nations. The book is a catalogue of an exhibition of his work--along with that of his mother Shona-Hah, brother Tsungani, & sister Patty Fawn-- held 26 Jan-7 Apr 1974 at the Pasadena Museum of Modern Art (CA), one of only 5000 copies printed. A near square (8.5" x 9.5") softcover in decorative wrappers, 64 pages, lavishly illustrated throughout. Condition is Near fine, marred only by light foxed spots inside both covers & even lighter spots to exterior. Else, completely clean, binding strong & straight, pages show very mild tanning around edges, but completely unmarked. A wonderful tribute! Our photos show the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have on hand. Same day shipping on all orders received Weekdays by 2 pm (Pacific time); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
