Late 19th-century opinions of a "modest country doctor's wife," who was originally invited by the AEsculapian Society of the Wabash Valley to write a paper on the topic, which was delivered as a pamphlet to doctors practicing in Indiana & Illinois. In 186 pages + Frontispiece with facsimile inscription & signature, illustrated throughout with 44 "photo-engravings of sketches from life." Dedicated to "physicians' wives in general,'' particularly to children's author, Mrs. Frances Hodgson Burnett, the author aimed to demonstrate the role of the doctor's wife in his "reputation & success,'' functions to which no one had alluded in any priori work on the subject that she consulted.
