Beautifully illustrated in soft watercolors by the author. A FIRST EDITION, early printing, from 1949, this small 4to (8.25" x 10.25") hardcover has light green cloth over boards with darker green lettering & to front & spine & stamped image of boy ringing the mission bell as the swallows fly home. Condition is VG+: quite clean & bright, binding strong & straight, pages creamy white with a whisper of tanning to edges, heavier to endpapers. Slight rubbing darkening to extremities & faint musty odor. The unclipped DJ is also VG+, with rubbing to extremities & some small chips at both ends of spine; else, brilliantly colorful & bright; nicely protected in new clear mylar cover.
