This is a 1909 edition with an Introduction containing letters by Tolstoy & statement that it was "written and translated for the benefit of the Jews impoverished by riots in Kishinef & Gomel [Russia, 1903].contributed by the author for the benefit of the sufferers." 64 pages. Small 16 mo (4.5" x 6.5") hardcover has soft yellow cloth over boars with an intricately stamped black & brown Art Nouveau design to front, lettered in black to front & spine. Condition is Near Fine: exceptionally clean & bright, binding strong & straight, pages mildly tanned, front endpapers heavily so; no foxing. NO writing/underlining/highlighting; not ex-lib.
