Third in the series of Saalfield's "Eagle Lake" books for early 20th-century boys focused on mystery, exploration, & adventure. In 246 pages, with frontispiece & DJ cover art by Charles Klinger. A FIRST EDITION, first printing, from 1931, the hardcover small 8vo has tan cloth-covered boards stamped in black lettering to front & spine. Condition is VG- (minus): very clean, binding secure, but both hinges cracked. Pages moderately tanned, commensurate with age, but still supple & completely unmarked. Modest rubbing to lower extremities, all corners slightly bumped. The unclipped DJ is also VG-: colorful & bright, with slight darkening to white areas, light soil, & small chips at both ends of spine/corners. Nicely protected in new mylar cover free!
