Orig. published in France, this is the very FIRST PRINTING from 1961 of the FIRST AMERICAN EDITION, with 8,500 recipes from all over the world, in 1,101 pages, with over 1000 illustrations, many in full color! Huge hardcover has with navy blue textured cloth-over-boards embossed with fleur-de-lis design & white lettering to front & spine. Condition is VG: very clean internally, but with light soil to exterior page edges, light dampstaining to some bottom page edges. Binding straight & strong, but front hinge is cracked. Pages white with very slight tanning to edges. Light rubbing to lower edges with slight white discoloration. The bottom-clipped DJ is only Good, with significant but just light rubbing to extremities; nicely protected in new mylar cover for years of culinary pleasure in your kitchen!
