Orig. published in 1943, this is the Second Printing of that FIRST EDITION, an association copy inscribed by the author on ffep to Brig. Gen. Kenneth B. Wolfe (who would later play a key role in the development & early operations of the Boeing B-29 Superfortress bomber). The inscription is dated Aug. 1944.with "hearty wishes for Billy Mitchell luck in the air & for glorious victory." In 420 pages including Index + Frontispiece + 8 photographic plates throughout text. Hardcover 8vo has black matte cloth-covered boards lettering in sharp gilt to spine. Condition is Near Fine: completely clean, binding straight & strong, pages creamy white with modest tanning to edges. The unclipped DJ is Good, with many small chips & rubbed spots, edgewear, but still colorful & bright; nicely protected in new mylar cover free!
