Another in the author's widely acclaimed mystery series (which ran 1909-1942) featuring scholarly, bookish, New York City detective Fleming Stone. Orig. published in 1933, this is an A.L. Burt reprint, roughly same vintage. With soft purple blue cloth-covered boards stamped with black lettering to front & spine, this12mo is in Good+ condition: generally very clean, binding straight & strong, hinges intact, pages mildly tanned, heavier around edges, but unmarked save for old gift inscription in pen to ffep. Externally, the top edges are sunned, & lower extremities show heavy rubbing, with fraying to heel of spine & lower corners. The unclipped DJ is Good, with chips at both ends of spine & smaller chips at corners, else colorful, with slight dampstaining to spine bleeding onto both covers; protected by former owner in nonreflective mylar cover.
