Follow-up to the author's groundbreaking 1962 book "Silent Spring'' the first to expose the dangers of pesticides to our planet, a prescient voice in what would become the global environmental movement (see our out other listings for both a first edition & reprint). Here, noted environmental writer Graham evaluates what progress has been made in enacting some of the changes proposed by Carson, as well as gives us a little more about her back story & how she reacted to the backlash & controversy her book aroused. Most importantly, he calls on the "embattled citizen' of ordinary means to expose & protest our government's continued use of pesticides & unsafe chemicals. With some portions appearing initially in Audubon magazine, this is the FIRT EDITION, fourth printing, of Graham's writings in book form from 1970, in 333 pages. With deep green cloth-covered boards lettered in gilt to spine & front cover, this hardcover 8vo is in VG condition, though it is an Ex-Lib copy, with the usual stamps & markings, removed card pocket residue, to front matter.Else, very clean, binding strong & straight, hinges secure; pages creamy off-white but unmarked. The unclipped DJ is VG, with slight rubbing & chipping at all corners, old paper call number to spine, but colors bright & unfaded. Old library mylar has been replaced with new & looks lovely! Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive from us, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same Day Shipping on all orders received by 2 p.m. Weekdays (Pacific time); Weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
