Written by the prolific "Poet of the Negro People" & leader of the Harlem Renaissance, with pen-and-ink sketches of each hero drawn by Gerald McCann. In 202 pp, with Index. A First Edition, 22th printing, from 1958, this hardcover 8vo has red cloth-covered boards pictorially stamped & lettered in black to front & spine. Condition is Good+ an Ex-Lib copy with the usual stamps & markings & light soil to fore edge from previous readers. Else, quite clean, binding strong & straight, pages creamy white & unmarked, except for the Table of Contents, which has some erased pencil check marks, & some ink spots in front matter. The price-clipped DJ is Near Fine, as it has been protected under library mylar, which is still intact, but glued inside both covers.
