Lovely Christian poem for a child, with charming mid-century watercolor illustrations throughout by Elizabeth Orton Jones. Orig. published in 1941, this is the First Edition with these illustrations by(First, thus; 4th printing), which won a Caldecott medal for the book in 1945. With tan cloth-covered boards decorated & lettered in blue to front cover, his hardcover 8vo is in Good condition: internally quite clean & bright & unmarked, stitched binding strong & straight but front hinge is cracked & reglued. Pages creamy white with age-appropriate tanning, but unmarked. Externally, the cloth covering the lower spine is heavily frayed, exposing underlying pages at bottom 1/2". No DJ.
