Very scarce, First British Edition, First Printing, of the author's second Judge Peck mystery, set in a "stifling mansion in northern Wisconsin." N.d in book, but was published 1936, two years after the first American edition. Matches all first edition points per Currey. In publisher's original green cloth stamped with black lettering to spine, this hardcover 8vo is in Good condition: marked rightward lean to spine, but text block is firm & all hinges secure (though front one is starting). Slight discoloration/fading to outside edges, heaviest along spine. Pages modestly tanned, commensurate with age with a few random foxed spots. Former owner's name & city inside front cover, else unmarked. the unclipped DJ is Fair-Poor, with some large & small chips, creases, taped repair on verso, heavy rubbing & darkening to spine. But that cover image of a very curvaceous naked person on all fours holding a gun is stunning! Now protected in clear mylar cover free! Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same Day Shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, Weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
