With another married couple able to afford first class continuous passage on the steamer Coquitlam, part of the Union Steamships Limited line, which included meals & berth, with no stopovers. It appears they traveled along the Inside Passage off the coast of Canada & Washington, leaving from Vancouver on a 6-day boat ride to Prince Rupert & Graham Islands, then back to Victoria, B.C. to Grand Coulee Dam, then home, with additional images documenting their travels along the coastal Highway 101 through Washington, Oregon, & northern California, including pictures of Prince Rupert Island/Graham Island, Princess Royal Island/Victoria, B.C; totem poles & Papooses, Butedale; coastal Oregon, Reedsport, OR; Power house construction at McNary Dam, OR; Deception Pass/Rosario Beach & Reservation Bay/Port Townsend/Olympic Mountains, WA; Crescent City, CA. Newspaper article about the defense boom barely touching Nome, AK, but no images of AK; Cape Flattery-Canada ; Redwood country in Northern California along the 101 Highway, & more. The scrapbook consists of 15 black paper double-sided pages, with postcards on both sides, usually 4 to a page, map & ship ticket stubs inside front cover, 4 postcards inside back; 2 spots are missing postcards, glue residue remains. Brown faux leather finding tied on left side with black cord through 2 reinforced rivets, stamped in gilt to front cover. Condition is VG: clean, with minor paper loss in the form of some chipping to corners or fore edge side of pages. Six pages have torn away from the binding at the punched holes. A well-preserved memento of a typical mid-20th-century vacation by Americans of some means. Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have!
