One in a popular 1940s'-1950s' series of books by Ross (not the singer) about the Little Red Engine, but the ONLY one with illustrations by Lewitt-Him, the working name of the team of J. Lewitt & Jerzy Him, Polish friends who collaborated on all sorts of graphic arts projects through the mid-20th century, including a small number of children's books. The First British Edition (n.d., c. 1947), unpaginated, this oblong 12mo (7" x 9.5") is in Poor condition--reading copy or buy for the illustrations only! Ex-school-library, with usual stamps & markings, it has been well-read: spine covering is missing, but underlying webbing & stitched binding are holding, hinges intact. Heavy rubbing to exterior paper that covers the boards & surface soiling. Interior is actually quite clean, with moderate page tanning. No DJ. Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same Day Shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (Pacific); later orders, Weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
