The Director of the Good Citizenship Bureau of the Womans Home Companion, a wildly popular women's magazine published 1873-1957, offers her guidelines for staring & operating a women's club, from organizing to keeping minutes, holding elections, engaging in community projects, & more. Of course, part of the push was to sell the publisher's product--Smith Corona typewriters--arguing in one section that typewriting is now the method of choice (vs handwriting) for the modern, newly independent, & busy woman of the 1920s. The book is dedicated to the "twelve million women of America whose unselfish service is making our country a safer, better and happier place in which to live." A FIRST EDITION, first printing from 1929, this hardcover small 8vo has green & black paper-covered boards, in 109 pages, with pen-and-ink illustrations scattered throughout the text. Condition is VG: completely clean internally, pages creamy white with moderate tanning, but unmarked save for former owner's name in pen to ffep. Binding strong & straight, hinges secure. Small area of sticker pulll to front cover & mild-moderate rubbing to extremities, bumped corners. No DJ, likely as issued.
