A FIRST EDITION, First Printing, from 1946, in 248 pages with decorative endpapers, a frontispiece & internal illustrations by Isobel Reed, ads for other Whitman titles in rear. Hardcover 8vo has blue cloth-covered boards lettered in bright orange to front & spine. Condition is VG+: exceptionally clean with very slight edgewear. Pages heavily tanned, commensurate with age & paper quality of the era, but unmarked (save for old gift inscription in pencil to title page). The unclipped DJ is VG: colorful & bright, with slight edgewear, including a chip to lower spine; protected by previous owner in nonreflective mylar cover.
