Originally written in 1886, this is a 1912 printing, a more scarce edition featuring the pen-and-ink sketches & color (black/gray/white/red) illustrations by prolific female book artist Katharine R. Wireman. 91 pages. Small hardcover 8vo (6.75" x 8.5") is covered in green cloth over boards with red & lighter green illustrations of birds, candles, & holly & red script lettering to front & spine. Condition is Fair: heavy rubbing & fraying to cloth at all extremities, exposing underlying boards in some spots. Both hinges are cracked, but the text block is securely stitched save for a completely loose frontispiece, which is also torn. Generally quite clean inside, with the occasional smudge. Unmarked save for old gift inscription dated 1920 to ffep. A charming Christmas favorite with delightful vintage illustrations! Our photos depict the EXACT book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have. Same day shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays, Pacific time; later orders, weekends, & holidays ship very next business day.
