Orig. published to great acclaim in 1950, this a Second Printing (down to "2" in number line) of that FIRST EDITION, c. late 1950s ("Young Man Luther" is listed in front matter, which appeared in 1958), but not the later (1963) revised edition. Hardcover 8vo has matte black cloth-covered boards with sharp gilt lettering & design to spine. Condition is Near Fine, with just a tad of offsetting to endpapers. Completely clean, binding strong & straight, pages modestly tanned but unmarked; one dogeared corner, unfolded. The bottom-clipped DJ (orig. $5.50 price still intact on front flap) is only Good, with heavy foxing & chipping/insect damage to both ends of spine & extremities; nicely protected in new clear mylar cover free!
