A long-forgotten children's story from the late 19th century is brought to new life by illustrator Maurice Sendak, who also writes a nice introduction about the author & how he came across this enchanting tale. Though Sendak's original drawings are copyright 1963, this is a later Holt Library Edition with an ISBN (c. mid-1970s). It is also an Ex-Lib copy, but with only 1 crossed-out stamp to top outside page edges, & first page (ffep) is neatly torn out (probably where card pocket was). Hinges reinforced with clean white library tape, reinforced binding. Condition is VG+: very clean & bright, binding tight & square, pages white & unmarked. The price-clipped DJ is Near Fine, as it has been protected under clear library mylar. Call letter to lower spine & excised bar code from back cover (sliced through the mylar only; DJ is perfectly intact). Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same day shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, Weekends & holidays ship very next business day. SPECIAL: order any other Sendak books together for 20% off both & only $1.00 extra shipping per item!
