In 221 pages with 16 pages of black-and-white photos + photo frontispiece of the author. Basis for the 1944 movie of the same name with Van Johnson, Spencer Tracy, Robert Walker, & Robert Mitchum. Orig. published in 1943, this is the first reprint edition from Blue Ribbon Books from 1944, identical in all aspects. Tan cloth-covered boards are stamped with a darker brown plane design to front, replicated on the spine, with dark brown lettering. Decorative endpapers show Japan & the coast of China. Condition is VG+: very clean, pages appropriately tanned (wartime paper quality & age), binding tight & square, pages tanned, commensurate with age & wartime paper quality, but completely unmarked. Just a hint of rubbing to extremities. The semi-clipped DJ (with reprint notice at bottom of front flap) is VG- (minus): bright & colorful with slight darkening to spine, rubbing to all extremities, some minor chips, short tears, & creases; looks lovely protected in new mylar cover free!
