Unique entry into the Oz canon, promoted as "the story book with characters that come out and walk," wherein the original "Wonderful Wizard of Oz" tale was brought to life with paper cut-out characters. Unfortunately, these "waddles" are long gone, though directions for assembling them remain in the rear following the end of the text on page 208. First copyrighted in 1899 & published in 1903 by Bobbs-Merrill, this is the First Printing (with publisher's imprint to lower spine) of the 1934 edition from Blue Ribbon, which retains all of the lovely pen-and-ink illustrations by W. W. Denslow. Hardcover octavo with light green cloth-covered boards, lettered in black to spine, with a colorful front paper pastedown featuring Desnlow's characters. Condition is Good: generally quite clean, with random smudges & spots, soil to outside page edges. A couple of pages have unfolded creases &/or small tears, with tape repairs; two have missing lower-outer corners. Binding is strong & straight, both hinges secure. Modest rubbing to extremities & light surface soil, a tad of rubbing to front pastedown, but no loss of color. No DJ. Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same Day Shipping on all orders received Weekdays by 2 pm (Pacific Time); later orders, Weekends, & holidays ship very next business day.
