Collection of 7 classic tales, first retold for 20th-century reader in this format in 1907 by Laurence Housman. Each is brought to life with multiple (2 each) full-color plates by illustrator Edmund Dulac (1882-1953), in 173 pages with a publisher's Preface. This is the 2nd printing of a new edition from Abaris Books from 1981. Oversized hardcover quarto (9.5" x 12.5") has blue cloth-covered boards stamped with gilt decoration & lettering to front & spine. Condition is VG: very clean & bright, binding straight & strong, but rear hinge had started to crack & was repaired with clear tape. Pages white & unmarked; all plates have stark white margins & crisp, clear colorful pages; slight foxing to external page edges, none inside. A few spots to exterior boards, very slight rubbing & bumping to extremities. The unclipped DJ is Good+, with a large chip from heel of spine & lesser chipping at all corners, a few short unclosed tears; nicely protected in new clear mylar cover free!
