Second book in a series of only two titles featuring Sally, who has a "good idea in a head that is good.[leading to] something of a rebellion" & multiple adventures "that girls like reading about." As in Ms. Garis's other books, Sally is a "modern" heroine with different abilities & inclinations. Most involved girls solving mysteries (like their counterpart who would come around in the 1930s, Nancy Drew). Ms Garis was a writer in the same Stratemeyer Syndicate that produced the Drew books, but unique for a woman writer at the time, insisted on writing under her own name. A FIRST EDITION, unknown printing, from 1930, in 248 pages + [2] pages in rear including a publisher's notice & ad for other titles. Glossy frontispiece + 3 glossy internals by illustrator Thelma Gooch. Hardcover 12mo has soft gray cloth-covered boards stamped with a black image of Sally to front cover with green lettering to front/black to spine. Condition is Fine: exceptionally clean & bright, interior pages are creamy white with mild, age-appropriate tanning, but completely unmarked. A hint of corner bumping & rubbing to extremities. The unclipped DJ is Near Fine, with a tiny chip to head of spine & rubbing/teeny chips to all corners & heel of spine. Cover image of young people, including Sally & her airman, with period airplanes overhead; nicely protected in nonreflective mylar cover Free! Our photos depict the EXACT book you will receive from us--never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same Day Shipping on all orders received by 2 pm weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
