Collection of Chinese stories about love drawn from the classic literature of the 17th century, illustrated throughout with pen-and-ink drawings of acclaimed Italian-American artist Valenti Angelo. This is the First Printing of this lovely illustrated edition from Three Sirens Press from 1935 (First, thus), an octavo (8vo) bound in rust-colored silk over boards, stamped & ruled in gilt with gilt decorations to front & spine. In 161 pages with sewn-in ribbon marker. Clear mylar protective cover missing a 2" strip around bottom edges. The slipcase is intact, brown stiff cardboard with beige paper pastedown to front, but splitting along one bottom edge & heavily rubbed along all other edges.
