Soft watercolor illustrations by Hungarian artist Willy Pogny are tipped in on a frontispiece & 8 internal plates throughout the 94 pages of this lovely pocket-size edition of Omar Khayyam's classic love poem, in English translation (likely Edward Fitzgerald's but unattributed here). No date, c. 1910, when Pogany was working in his distinctive Art Nouveau style. A small 24mo (4" x 5"), this hardcover has light gray-tan cloth-covered boards with an intricate gilt design & lettering stamped to front & spine. Condition is VG: soil & foxing to exterior boards, but interior is clean with mild offsetting to endpapers, light tanning to pages. Old gift inscription dated 1937 to ffep, else completely unmarked.
