Lauded as "a stinging rebuke to Roman Catholicism,'' this expose was penned by an "ex-priest" who, "for thirty long years tread the slippery & deceitful path of abhorrent Catholicism.but who now denounces Popery with a tongue livid with the power of a living God." Apparently, the Church tried to claim that Fresenborg had never been a priest, but he reproduces a check made out to him in 1903 for his saying Mass at St. Leo's Catholic Church in St. Louis, MO. First published in 1904, this is the next (1919) edition, in 328 pages with frontispiece sketch of the author, other pen-and-ink sketches throughout. Hardcover octavo (8vo) has orange cloth-covered boards stamped with black design & lettered in black to front & spine. No DJ. Condition is VG: despite some bleached-looking mottled spots to exterior, the sewn binding is strong & straight, & hinges are secure (though gutter between pages 320-321 is cracked). Pages are heavily tanned & rather brittle, but unmarked. Modest bumping to lower-outer corners & slight rubbing & pushing to both ends of spine. Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have!
