A lovely, very early edition of the classic rhymes, with new illustrations by Kate Greenaway. Undated, but orig. published in 1881, this is an early printing of the First British Edition, not the later facsimile (we are also offering that edition; please see our listing #016430), with Greenaway's charming watercolor drawings of Victorian children & ladies accompanying each rhyme. In 53 pages, this 16mo (4.25" x 6.5") has glossy decorative cream & green colored paper over quarter green cloth-covered boards. Condition is VG+: quite clean with the occasional small foxed spot or smudge, light exterior soil. Pages creamy white with a whisper of tanning, unmarked save for old gift inscription dated 1912 to ffep. Modest rubbing to extremities, heavier at corners, with paper loss there. No DJ. A lovely little copy! Our photos depict the exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same day shipping if ordered by 2 pm weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next day.
