Orig. published in 1876 & praised as one of Verne's best, if lesser known, works, this is an extraordinary 1934 illustrated edition from Librairie Hachette n the original French, with pen-and-ink drawings by Henri Faivre in the form of 26 full-page plates throughout the 206 pages. Nearly a folio (11.00" x14.25"), with red-salmon cloth-covered boards with darker brown-red ruling, design, & lettering to front & spine. Condition is VG: unusually clean, with pages heavily tanned but unmarked save or former owner's name & address to ffep. Binding strong & straight, both hinges secure. Moderate rubbing to extremities, very heavy to both ends of spine (with cloth fraying & some loss) & all corners. No DJ, as issued.
