Collection of 8 vintage fairy tales edited by the author of "The Little Engine That Could,'' with new verses about each tale by Kate Cox Goddard & charming illustrations in both pen-and-ink & full color by Eulalie (not credited), who also did the colorful endpapers. Orig. published in 1934, this is the First Printing with the 1938 copyright by Platt & Munk (First, thus), a small octavo with bright orange cloth-over-boards, stamped with black design & lettering to front/spine. Unpaginated (approx. 96 pages, each story 10-12 pages). Condition is Near Fine: exceptionally clean & bright, binding strong & straight, reinforced hinges intact, pages creamy white with a whisper of tanning, but completely unmarked save for name sticker of former owner to ffep & paste-down bible image/verse to verso of this page. Many tiny dark spots/stains (not foxing) to lower outside page edges only. Very slight rubbing to extremities & mild bumping to corners & ends of spine. No DJ (missing).
