Another rather scarce mass market paperback bearing the fabulous cover art of illustrator Edward Gorey. This is a semiautobiographical memoir by Rilke, in 237 pages with Notes in rear, translated from the original German by M. D. Herter Norton. Orig. published in 1949, this is the First Edition from Capricorn Books with the Gorey cover from 1958 (First, Thus), slightly later printing ($1.15 cover price). Condition is VG- (minus): very clean, binding straight & strong, pages lightly tanned, completely unmarked save for old gift inscription in neat pen to title page & some very faint pencil marks/underlines in Book One (with an inserted slip of paper from gift giver explaining these). Slight rubbing to extremities & cover, with very faint creasing. Small spot to exterior fore edge. Nicely protected in new mylar collector bag Free!
