In addition to being a esteemed 19th-century poet, Baudelaire was also considered one of that era's important art critics. Here, his most important writings on art are translated into English for the first time in this First Anchor mass market paperback edition (A84) from 1956. You're buying this, though, because you're a Gorey completist, as this is another in the series of mass market paperbacks he did for Anchor while he was struggling to make it as an illustrator in his own right. He did only the typography here; cover art by Leonard Baskin, in 370 pages + 79 black-and-white illustrations in a 64-page center section, list of other Anchor titles in rear. Condition is VG: very clean, pages off-white with just a hint of tanning, but completely unmarked. Front cover shows heavy tanning & rubbing to extremities, slight paper loss at all corners. Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have on hand! Same Day Shipping on all orders received Weekdays before 2 pm (Pacific time); later orders, weekends, & holidays ship very next business day.
