Delightful children's/YA sci-fi novel involving 2 adventurous boys from Pacific Grove, CA, who travel by spaceship with the help of the mysterious Mr. Tyco Bass to help the little green inhabitants of the tiny mushroom-filled planet of Basidium. In 214 pages, with original DJ cover art & internal pen-and-ink drawings by Robert Henneberger (much more elaborate than in the later paperback edition!). A FIRST EDITION, 20th printing from 1954, this is an EX-LIB copy, with usual stamps & markings, card pocket in rear, last checked out over 30 years ago. Condition is just Good: green cloth-covered boards with burgundy design & lettering to front & spine are generally clean, but show tape & glue residue inside both covers & a small rubbed area to bottom edge of front board. Slight rightward slant, but binding is strong, hinges secure. Pages creamy white & unmarked (except as noted above). Soiled spots to fore edge of ffep only, light spotting to outside text block edges. Having been protected under old library mylar (which has been carefully removed & replaced with new), the unclipped DJ is VG+: completely clean, with old library sticker partially removed from lower spine, minor creasing & rubbing to extremities.
