First book in a new young adult (YA) series about boys & horses, by the author of the beloved "Black Stallion" series, in 247 pages, illustrated throughout with the pen-and-ink sketches of Keith Ward. A FIRST EDITION, Seventh Printing, from 1948, this octavo has gray cloth over boards with a burgundy text box & horse design to spine, lettered in black. though very clean & completely unmarked, condition is downgraded to Fair due to staining to entire exterior, which has somewhat warped the text block & boards. Else, binding is strong & secure, pages unmarked. The unclipped DJ is somewhat wrinkled & lightly tanned, but completely free of edgewear, having been protected in clear mylar by previous owner.
