Collection of photographs taken by Forrest as a young man in 1902 when he traveled to the Four Corners region of the American Southwest to document the lives of the Navaho & Southern Ute Indians, many of whom had little previous contact with whites. He would later have a career as a newspaperman & author, but these photos were never published.until now. This FIRST EDITION, First Printing, from 1970 contains 125 black-and-white throughout the 274 pages, with a text by the author that vividly recounts early Native American life in a Western world that has long vanished. With pale yellow cloth-over-boards stamped with a silvery-black image to front cover/lettering to spine, this 12mo is in Fine condition: appears nearly as crisp as Brand New & is completely clean & unmarked, pages white, binding strong & straight. The clipped DJ is Near fine, with very mild rubbing to extremities & light soil to rear; nicely protected in new clear mylar cover free!
