Book #16 in the continuing Oz series & only the 2nd written by Ruth Plumly Thompson (the 2nd "Royal Historian of Oz"), carrying on the tradition of the original 14 stories by L. Frank Baum, with the original illustrations of artist John R. Neill (who would become the 3rd Royal Historian) throughout the text & front pastedown. Orig. published in 1922, this is a later printing (post-1935, Hanff & Green, p. 89) of that First Edition, in 297 pages with black-and-white rather than color plates now, red stain to outside edges of text block. Octavo (6.75" x 9.25") has dark tan cloth over boards, with black lettering & design to spine, colorful front paper pastedown. Condition is VG: very clean & bright, binding strong & straight, hinges secure. Pages creamy white with light tanning to edges & an occasional tiny spot. Unmarked save for former owner's name stamp to endpapers & in "This Book Belongs To" box. Exterior shows very mild rubbing & bumping. No DJ.
