Orig. published with these illustrations by W.W. Denslow in 1899, this "new" edition was first published in 1903 by the Bobbs-Merrill Co ("new" dropped from front title, present on title page). Called the "MGM Movie Version," it s essentially the 5th edition, in 208 pages with black-and-white endpapers showing images from the 1939 film (First State of this edition, per Hanff & Greene, p. 36, + 8 black-and-white & 8 COLOR plates! Small quarto (7.25" x 9.75") has medium green cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering inside black text boxes to spine, black lettering & design to front. Condition is VG-: downgraded due to soil to fore edge side of front board. Interior is very clean & bright, binding strong & straight, hinges secure. Pages moderately tanned, unmarked save for former owner's name in neat pen to verso of ffep. Spine is heavily faded. Edges crisp, with mild rubbing to both ends of spine & slight corner bumping.
